About Me
My name is Angela and I am a Washington state native.  My husband Jon and I live in Lynnwood along with our three children, Heidi, Lowen and Mylo.
I have extensive training in natural childbirth and possible interventions during labor. I am also trained in newborn breastfeeding and other postpartum needs. I came to this calling after the birth of my own daughter in 2010 and I have an extreme passion for birth and the much needed support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum.
I completed my doula training at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations at Bastyr University in 2011 and I am certified through PALS Doulas of Washington State.  I am currently working towards my certification in birth assisting with NW Birth Assistants.  I have also completed Breastfeeding courses with Birth and Beyond, TENS and Rebozo training with Sharon Muza CD(DONA),CBE, Placenta Encapsulation training with Big Belly Services, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) at UW Medical Center and the intensive training course for Birth Assisting at NW Birth Assistants as well as several advanced training workshops.
I have a degree from the Art Institute of Seattle in Culinary Arts and my AA Degree from Shoreline Community College with a focus on Music.
I have experience with single mothers, deployed partners, PTSD, Domestic Violence, Cesarean, VBAC/HBAC, High Risk, Gastroschisis, Adoption, Precipitous Labor, Inductions, Hospital, Birth Center and Home births including water birth.
Why Tula?  When I was scouring baby name books during my pregnancy with my daughter I came across the name Tula.  I loved it but knew it wasn't the right fit for our daughter and family.  It always stuck with me though and I thought of it immediately when thinking of business names.  The name Tula has origins meaning gracious gift in Greek, peak in Native American, strength in German, leaping water in Spanish and new moon in English.  I associate all of these meanings with labor and childbirth and thus TulaDoula Birth Services was born.
